Caroline Chambers – Co- Chair and Foundation (14/3/22- 13/3/26)

Caroline joined the governing board in 2018. She became a governor to help ensure that St John’s provides a strong educational foundation for its pupils so that all children develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

As the former communications director for a Bristol-based multi-academy trust, Caroline applies her experience to help maintain the school’s vibrant, well-regarded identity and strengthen connections with the wider St John’s community.

In Caroline’s own words: “We all want our children to be happy in school, to make lasting friendships and to have brilliant teachers who inspire every pupil to aim high and make the most of every opportunity. As a governor, my aim is to help ensure that St John’s provides the best possible environment for both teaching and learning.”

Sarah Lewis – Co Chair and Foundation (25/6/24-24/6/28)

Sarah joined the Board of Governors in 2024 as a Foundation Governor. She has worked in education for over twenty years and has been guided by the belief that all children, regardless of background, deserve the very best education that we can provide to enable them to fulfil their potential.

She is an active member of St John’s Church in Clevedon, heading up the Community and Outreach Committee which looks to build links between the church and wider community.

James Cridland - Parent Elected  (9/5/25 - 8/5/29)

I become a governor at St. John’s because the school has always held a special place in my life. As a former pupil, I look back with real gratitude for the opportunities, friendships, and encouragement I received here, and I wanted to give something back to the community that shaped me. Becoming a governor feels like a way of helping to ensure today’s pupils have the same positive experiences and strong foundations for the future.

Alongside this, I run a successful financial advice business, and I’m proud to be part of the community that St. John’s serves. My hope is to bring both my personal connection and my professional experience to the role and supporting the school. Most of all, I see it as a chance to stay involved with a place that means a lot to me, and to help it continue to thrive for the next generation.

Jennifer Stirling - Foundation Appointed   (27/3/25 - 26/3/29)

Jen is a foundation Governor passionate about upholding the ethos and values of the school.

Professionally she is a Programme Manager in financial services focusing on digital transformation.  She has two sons who attend St John’s.

Sally Good - Parent Elected   (25/6/25 - 24/6/29)

Sally became a Parent Governor in 2025 as her son moved into Year 5. As an ex-primary school teacher, she felt that she was ideally placed to bridge gap between school and home, being supportive to the wonderful St John's team whilst also being well placed to listen to and understand the parent voice.
She also works for a company who provide evidence based smoking and vaping prevention programmes to schools and she has enjoyed working with the students in Key Stage 2 as part of their PSHE.
She looks forward to understanding more about what goes on behind the scenes as part of her role.
